bikefest poster9am - La Prima Espresso, 21st & Penn, in the Strip

Carol and Maurice are leading this ride. They are going to go from the Strip to Lawerencville to Bloomfield to Garfield to Wilkinsburg to Regent Square, to Squirrel Hill, to Hazelwood to Southside to Hill District to Downtown and over to the North Side. This will be about 35 miles visiting all of the 2006 Murals that the ride did not hit last year. If you came last year this year will have a bit of a twist to it.

Click here for a map of all the Sprout Fund Murals in the city.

Below are some links to pictures from the ride. Thanks to Carol and Maurice for a great time!

Do you have a pile of bike parts lying in a box under your bed? Willing to part with one of your many bikes? or Just looking to find some bargains? Check out the Swap and Market! Everyone is welcome to attend, shop, and trade. This year’s event will coincide with the Rails to Trails Conservancy’s Greenway Sojourn and REI’s ever popular Garage Sale, so there will be tons of folks there.
Vendors: Selling space this year is FREE to individuals. You just need to bring your own display materials (table, pop-up tent, etc) and stuff to sell/trade/barter with. Although selling space is free for individuals, please RSVP to bikefest@bike-pgh.org and let us know you are coming so that we can prepare.

Alleycat Soup
Come one, come all to Alleycat Soup. Its a charity food drive race for the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. The race is at 6, and the swap ends at 3, so there is plenty of time to get ready to race. Bring $10 and a bag, you will have to buy food at the checkpoints to be donated at the end of the race. Plus we hear tell that there is free beer at the end.

Larry and I supported her in her endeavor. Click on the picture to see a larger version of Carol (far right) and the other two top finishers on the “podium”.
