Google Maps ‘Bike There’

The folks at googlemapsbikethere.org have created an online petition to get Google to add a “bike there” component to their maps. They hope to convince the Google Maps team that folks want the ability to get bicycle route information via the main Google Maps interface. Please click here to sign the petition. THANKS

Bicycle Programs for the Disabled

Project Mobility, a non-profit organization based in St. Charles, Illinois, which offers recreational events for people with disabilities by adapting bicycles to fit their needs.The project works with families, rehabilitation professionals and organizations to bring the bikes to schools, hospitals and recreational centers; giving participants a sense of freedom and hope beyond previously perceived physical limitations. Participants are able ‘test ride’ a range of bikes opening a doorway to new modes of transportation, therapeutic recreation and general daily enjoyment of life. Cannondale Bought by Pacific’s Owners

TORONTO, Feb 4 (Reuters) - Dorel Industries Ltd raced into the high-end bike market on Monday with the purchase of Cannondale Bicycle Corp in an all-cash deal worth $190 million to $200 million.

Dorel, which also makes furniture and children’s products, already manufactures bicycles through its Pacific Cycle division, with brands including Schwinn and GT. It said the acquisition is being financed through debt.
